Add a BigQuery destination

This document explains how to export data from the Productsup platform to BigQuery, a data warehouse service from Google Cloud.

Introduction

BigQuery is part of the Google Cloud Platform. It is a data warehouse service that Google Cloud clients can use to store, organize and analyze data. You can send data to BigQuery from a Productsup site by adding a BigQuery destination to an export channel.

Prerequisites

  • You have already set up at least one export channel for a site in the Productsup platform. If you have not already done this, see Add export channel.

  • You can select Google Cloud Platform: BigQuery as a destination in the setup page of the export channel that contains the data you want to send to BigQuery. If it does not appear as an option, contact Technical Support for guidance.

  • Before exporting data from Productsup, configure BigQuery to accept external tables formatted to the Productsup scheme.

Add a BigQuery destination

Adding a BigQuery destination to an existing export channel lets you send product data to BigQuery. You can add a BigQuery destination as follows:

  1. Go to the site containing the product data you want to send to BigQuery and select Exports A/B from the sidebar.

  2. Select the cogwheel icon to enter the export channel's setup page.

Exports A/B - selecting Blank Export channel.
  3. In the setup page, select the Add Destination button.

    Add destination to export channel.
  4. Enter a name for the destination in the popup menu and select Google Cloud Platform: BigQuery from the Destination dropdown menu.

  5. Select Save.

Configure the BigQuery export destination

After adding a BigQuery destination, the Productsup platform automatically directs you to its configuration page. For data to transfer to BigQuery successfully, you should configure the channel as follows:

  1. Select Google Cloud Platform: BigQuery in the Authentication drop-down menu.

  2. Enter your BigQuery credentials in the following input fields:

    • Project ID - This input field refers to the unique ID associated with each BigQuery project.

    • Dataset - In this input field, enter the specific data set you wish to target in your BigQuery project.

    • Table - Specify the table in your BigQuery data set to export your Productsup data to.

Setup screen to configure Google BigQuery destination.
  3. Select Save.

Your product data is now ready to transfer to BigQuery. The transfer occurs on the next manual or automatic export.
