Import products from SAP PIM

Import products from SAP product information manager (PIM) or product management system (PMS) in Productsup.

Introduction

In Productsup, you can directly import products from a product information manager (PIM), for example, SAP or Akeneo. Add a data source that links to your shopping platforms in Data Sources. Then by selecting the PIM/PMS tab.

Add PIM/PMS data source

Productsup offers integration with the following PIMs for importing products:

  • Akeneo

  • Enterworks

  • Informatica

  • inRiver

  • PimCore

  • Propel

  • Riversand

  • Salsify

  • SAP Hybris

  • SAP Product Content Management (PCM)

  • StiboSystems

SAP PIM integrations

Import product data in Productsup from your SAP product information manager (PIM) software extension. You can import your product data via the SAP PCM (OData) Hybris integration or the alternative SAP Hybris extension.

Overview of characteristics for the recommended SAP PCM (OData) data source:

  • Integration requires no developer support

  • Export/import all data related to product type

  • Hybris support for versions 19.05 and 20.05

  • To use classification in PCM, you must have version 20.05. OData support for classification is available in 20.05

  • SAP PCM pulls data directly from the Hybris OData connector but places a heavy load on the PCM system. The OData connector does not work with deltas. The platform performs a full import instead. Productsup only suggests PCM OData if you have a limited amount of products to import. Several thousands of products for import may perform slower than expected.

Overview of characteristics for the alternative SAP Hybris data source:

  • Export all data related to product type

  • Hybris support for version 6.0 and above

  • Configuration is via SAP PCM back-office UI or Impex. Impex is an SAP Hybris-specific language used to import data in a CSV/Impex file to a Hybris system. The Hybris system sends data exports to a CSV/Impex file.

  • Creates a CSV export from Hybris and delivers it via FTP. This method may require installation by your IT support team.

Productsup recommends using the SAP PCM (OData) extension since the setup is efficient and doesn’t require developer support.

See this Productsup video demo to learn more about the SAP PCM OData integration.

Requirements

Productsup offers support for the following:

SAP PCM (OData) versions:

  • 19.05

  • 20.05

SAP Hybris extension versions:

  • 6.0 or higher

For the Productsup to SAP PCM OData integration to work, you must first configure your SAP tool. Contact support@productsup.com if you need assistance. Also, see Creating and Viewing a Product Integration Object for more information.

Note

To authorize Productsup to pull data from the SAP PCM you must create a regular Employee User in PCM and add the user to adminGroup. On the Productsup side, Productsup uses base64 encoding to create an authentication token using the Employee User username and password.

Set up Integration via OData in SAP

For the Productsup data source and export destination to work with OData, you must first set up OData with the following in your SAP back-office:

  • Three (3) mandatory OData Integration Objects

  • One (1) optional OData Integration Object

  • One (1) SAP PCM/PCH user
