Analyze your data in Data View

Analyze your data in Data View in Productsup.

Introduction

Data View is a powerful module that gives you a clear and direct look into your feed and product data. You can analyze and filter data in Data View to receive statistics for items in your product catalog.

Analyze a product catalog on the import, intermediate, and export stage to receive the following information:

  • Distinct values - product or item values

  • Length distribution - text space limits

  • Logarithmic length distribution - calculated digit limits

  • Percentage of empty values - no values in column

  • Average length - text length

  • Data type distribution - distinguishes if fields in a column contain images, text, or are empty

Access Data View

  1. Navigate to a site

  2. Navigate to the Dataflow tab in the left-hand menu

Analyze your products on the import and intermediate stages

If you want to analyze products for a certain column or attribute, you can do so by using the analyze functionality. Here you can select a column on the import or intermediate stage and view key analysis of the data for this column.

Analyze your export feeds

Each export channel will normally have specifications or guidelines for how they accept data. This will detail a list of attributes that they expect to retrieve and will often mention what format the values should be sent in.

For example, an export channel such as Google Merchant Center only accepts prices that separated with a point and have the currency code appended: 15.00 USD. Any prices not matching this would be rejected by Google and could cause product disapproval.

As a result, you may wish to check Productsup’s in-depth analysis of your export attributes to ensure your data is exported as required by the export channel.

The analysis will differ per channel, dependent on what is required by each partner. As such, you can rely on the specialized analysis for each export feed.

Analyzing your export feeds by column

You can analyze on a column directly, similar to the import and intermediate stage.

Alongside the standard analysis, you will also receive validation tests (dependent on the analyzed attribute and export channel).

  1. Navigate to the Data View

  2. Click on analyze for a column

  3. The column on which you clicked on will display standard analysis in the toolbar, as well as export-specific analysis
