Set up the TikTok Shop Price & Inventory export

Update prices and stock levels of your existing TikTok Shop products without sending your full product catalog.

8 min read

The TikTok Shop Price & Inventory Updates export sends price and stock changes to TikTok Shop separately from your main product catalog export. TikTok Shop starts a new product review whenever you change product details such as the title, images, or description, but it applies price and stock changes in near real time. Sending these values in a dedicated export lets you update them as often as you need without triggering product reviews.

The export updates only products that already exist on TikTok Shop. To create products, use one of the TikTok Shop - Product Catalog API exports. See Add TikTok Shop exports for more information.

What you need before you set up the TikTok Shop Price & Inventory export

  • A TikTok Shop authentication created on the project or organization level. See the prerequisites in Add TikTok Shop exports to learn how to add it.
  • Products that are already live on TikTok Shop. The platform can update prices only for products with the status Live (ACTIVATE in the TikTok Shop API) that aren't part of an ongoing promotion. Stock updates aren't possible for frozen or deleted products.
  • The seller SKU of every product variant you want to update. The seller SKU is the SKU you assigned to the variant on TikTok Shop, for example, through the sku.seller_sku attribute of your product catalog export.
  • A separate site for the export.

This is a recommended option. If a separate site doesn't fit your overall organization structure, you can ignore this advice.

How the export matches your data to TikTok Shop products

Each row in your data represents one product variant. The export identifies each variant by its seller SKU only, so you don't need to know the TikTok product ID or SKU ID. Before sending any updates, the platform looks up each seller SKU in your shop and finds the live product it belongs to.

The platform skips a row if:

  • The sku.seller_sku attribute is empty.
  • The seller SKU matches no live product in your shop.
  • The seller SKU matches more than one live product in your shop. The platform doesn't guess which product to update.

The export uses sku.seller_sku as the delta key and sends only new and changed rows to TikTok Shop during each site run. If you remove a product from your data, the platform doesn't delete or change it on TikTok Shop.

Price and stock attributes

You can send price updates, stock updates, or both in the same row. The platform sends a price update for a variant only if the row contains price values, and a stock update only if the row contains at least one warehouse with stock values. Attributes you leave empty stay unchanged on TikTok Shop.

sku.inventory[0].handling_time, sku.inventory[1].handling_timeThe number of days you need to prepare a backordered variant for shipping.

See Update price and Update inventory in the TikTok Shop Partner Center for TikTok Shop's requirements for each value.

Check the results of your price and stock updates

The platform sends the updates of each product independently. If TikTok Shop rejects the update of one product, the platform continues with the other products. The site run fails only if TikTok Shop rejects every update or if your TikTok Shop authentication is invalid.

Caution

Currently, this export doesn't provide a feedback file. To see which rows the platform skipped and which updates TikTok Shop rejected, check the logs of your site run.
