Productsup IP whitelisting

Explicitly allow specific IP access using the Productsup whitelisting.

Introduction

Depending on your security standards, it might be necessary for you to whitelist IPs that connect to the Productsup system.

In the following list, here are some servers or services that may allow whitelisting IPs when necessary. You can only whitelist IPs if static IPs are available. If whitelisting is not possible, consider the listed alternative options.

Proxy

Use a proxy by turning on Proxy settings in Data Sources > Settings > Proxy Settings > select Enable. Use a proxy to limit the number of IP addresses for importing or exporting data from the platform.

In which cases would you need to whitelist the service's IPs?
  • If required for a successful data source download.

  • If required for a successful export file upload.

Is whitelisting recommended?

Yes, but only where absolutely necessary. Using this feature without the need for fixed IPs could cause performance issues during data transfers.

Which static IPs are being used?

See all available static IPs by viewing your site and navigating to Data Sources > Settings > Proxy Settings > select Enable. In the Proxy Settings field, you can see a list of static IPs available. See Download Proxy for more information.

Productsup FTP and SFTP

Create the Productsup FTP on the organization level. The FTP pushes and hosts files, either for import or export from the platform.

In which case would you need to whitelist the service's IPs?

If required to successfully push data to the Productsup FTP.

Is whitelisting recommended?

No. Since IPs are constantly changing, maintaining a large list of IPs isn’t sustainable.

For the Productsup FTP, which static IPs are being used?

None.

Recommended alternatives to whitelisting
  • Consider using an SSH file transfer protocol (SFTP), as this might better satisfy your security standards compared to FTP.

  • Sign up with an FTP provider that provides static IPs for their services.

Productsup server

The Productsup Server is an export destination. It pushes and hosts files that are typically used to export data from the platform.

In which case would you need to whitelist the service's IPs?

If the target location can only download from trusted sources.

Is whitelisting recommended?

No. Since IPs are constantly changing, maintaining a large list of IPs isn’t sustainable.

Which static IPs are being used?

None.

Recommended alternatives to whitelisting:

Use an external destination, such as External FTP, S3, GCS, or Azure.

Image Service

Use the image service to request images from your source location. Edit images using Image rule boxes or the Designer. Read more about the image service in Detect colors from image links with the Image Color Detection data service. See Edit images and create image templates in Image Designer for more information on Image Designer and Rule box category Edit image on free image-editing rule boxes.

In which case would you need to whitelist the service's IPs?

If you block bot access to your images and need to allow certain IPs to access them.

Is whitelisting recommended?

No. Since IPs are constantly changing, maintaining a large list of IPs isn’t sustainable.

For image service, which static IPs are being used?

None.

Recommended alternatives to whitelisting:

Productsup can create a custom header for you to use for your whitelisting. If necessary, contact the support team for help at support@productsup.com.

Crawlers

Use crawlers to get additional information from your website’s product detail pages, image meta information, or to create a product feed from scratch.

In which cases would you need to whitelist the service's IPs?

If you block bot access to your images or website and need to allow certain IPs to access them.

Is whitelisting recommended?

No. Since IPs are constantly changing, maintaining a large list of IPs isn’t sustainable.

Which static IPs are being used?

None.

Recommended alternatives to whitelisting:

Whitelist the user agent in the relevant data service. You can customize the user agent, as it’s unique to your individual service.
